Unimaginable a century ago, Californian wine is today one of the best in the world. Yet in just a few decades, California’s winegrowers have primarily taken advantage of the region to offer exceptional world wines.
Some of the Best Californian Wines
There are many, and the best thing would be to discover the wines and the vineyards where they come from.
Vérité Estate
Created in 1998 by Pierre Seillan, this vineyard is owned by Jackson Family Wines, and they have some of the best Californian Cruz. This estate offers three wines: Le Désir, La Muse and La Joie. La Muse is a superb Merlot made from several micro Cruz from the east of Count Sonoma. It is an extremely sophisticated wine with an exceptional texture. As for Le Désir, it is a Cabernet Franc with a pronounced minerality. Its exotic aromas can’t leave one indifferent. La Joie is a racy and very complex Cabernet Sauvignon. It will mainly delight true wine lovers.
- Ridge Vineyard
It is one of the oldest vineyards in California as the winery was built in the 19ᵉ century, more precisely in 1892. However, it took until 1989 for this vineyard to take off. It owes its revival to Paul Draper, a winemaker who can be called a practitioner since he wasn’t an oenologist. Thanks to him, the vineyard today possesses some of the best Californian Cruz. Montebello distinguishes itself from the lot. This wine has everything to please: an exquisite robe, a rare elegance and a remarkable balance.
Other Cruz Worthy to be Mentioned
The list of vineyards and vintages that deserve to be discovered continues to grow over the years. These include Pinot Noir Mas Cavalls from Marimar Estate, Morning Fog Chardonnay from Wente Vineyards, Sofia Brut Rose from Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Chardonnay 2015 from Rodney Strong Vineyards wines and Chardonnay 2014 from Grgich Hills Estate. This is a partial list of wines to be enjoyed.
